What is BREEAM?
BREEAM is managed and assessed by BRE (Building Research Establishment). The letters stand for BRE Environmental Assessment Method. BREEAM is the leading and most widely used environmental assessment method for buildings. It sets the UK standard for best practice in sustainable design and has become the de facto measure used to describe a building’s environmental performance.
BREEAM Education helps schools and further education colleges to set environmental targets for new and refurbished education buildings. It also serves as a useful tool for designers by demonstrating the environmental performance of their designs.
The design team are aiming for a BREEAM accreditation of ‘Good’.
